Changeling 2.0 is a state of the art Macintosh file information editor. It's uses are many, and many find it useful. So since you double clicked, We'll give you docs!
Installation:
Next time wait for me; you've already installed it! What if you had messed up huh? What then? You make me think I'm wasting my time with this file....
Configuration:
This program automatically knows its configuration information! Isn't that great? Now you don't need to worry about silly Changeling 2.0 preferences in your system folder. Now if only every program could be this good.
Starting Changeling:
Changeling is opened by:
(1) Double clicking its icon. (Yes, it's actually an application, not just a fancy icon!)
(2) Dragging a file on top of it. (That's a System 7 thing.)
(3) Saying "Changeling, please open." (This is the coercion method. NOTE: You need Voice Navigator for this.)
(4) Pressing Command-O when the icon is hilighted.
Using Changeling 2.0:
What's this program for? Well that's a good question, I think we only figured it out yesterday, and used our update virus which is on every Mac in the world (thanks to my friend Steve) to instantly update this readme with the relevant info (if you believe any of this you don't deserve your computer). Changeling is for editing file information. It edits a file's
(1) Creator Type
(2) File Type
(3) Finder Flags (or bits)
(4) Karma - Only available in the Registered Version
You may be asking yourself (if you're schizo or something) "Why would I want to edit these things?" You may want to edit a file's info for many reasons.
(1) You d/l'ed a file and your idiotic term program set the type to TEXT.
(2) You converted a graphics file from another computer and you want to change the file type to the correct one.
(3) You've got some time to kill.
(4) Your network went down and you need to access some files but their BUSY flags are still set.
(5) You compiled your application in Think and forget to set the project type. (Yes, we've used this one a great deal....)
(6) There is no reason number 6.
Registering Changeling 2.0:
Changeling 2.0 is being released as Guiltware. That means if you actually like this program and don't send us some money ($5 recommended, but poor students like ourselves would accept more...) you should feel REALLY, REALLY guilty. By the way, be on the look out for new Star's End Enterprises releases in the future... they're on their way!
